Our showpiece

Teachers’ training represents the showpiece of the Montessori International Centre of Perugia. Educators, teachers and professors who operate in the schools of the Montessori Centre continuously attend training courses, meetings and classes to always keep themselves informed.

Moreover, since its creation, the Montessori International Centre has dedicated particular attention to the creation of training courses on Montessori’s pedagogy addressed to nursery educators, kindergarten teachers and primary school teachers.

Through the years, dozens of educators and teachers, coming from many countries of the world, from China to Taiwan, from Messico to the USA, have attended the courses organised by the Centre.

These courses are meant to follow the Montessori method, which aims at encouraging the child and student to develop a sense of responsibility and awareness, instead of imposing standardised educational paths from above with fixed stages.

During the progress of the courses we pay particular attention to the environment and playtime, all being elements that allow the development of language and speech, cognitive development and both precise and rough motility development.

The keystone of educational system

Educators’ training, is therefore the keystone of the entire educational system. Luciano Mazzetti, founder of the Montessori International Centre of Perugia, writes about the theme as follows:

“I must confess that the dilemma of educating/teaching seems to me a fake problem. They keep inventing new tables, programmes and curricula every day, in order to remove themselves from the risk of reflecting on education, betting everything on teaching. Because the act of teaching appears to be clearer, more objective and rational, less ambitious. There are contents, subjects, knowledge. There are methods and tools, sometimes very powerful. There are docimologies to scientifically evaluate. Education, on the other hand, is, like life and death, a taboo word. It hides a profound, unsettling reality, it evokes responsibility and decisions, it proposes courage or cowardice. The price of educating is high: we are called on to play with ours cards laying on the table, forced to declare who we are and where we want to go, we have to deal with our hope or desperation".
